This course addresses, in depth, the usage, cost, and conservation of energy in its more common forms such as electrical, compressed air, fuel/natural gas, steam, and heat.
This course will familiarize attendees with various ways of reducing energy costs through well-planned, specific, and results-oriented projects and proven methods of operation. The instructor—with years of experience in energy project implementation and energy program/process development—shows how substantial energy cost reduction can be achieved with little or no capital investment and, in some cases, how the cost of energy can be minimized without making substantial reductions in actual energy consumption.
Some of these projects can be pursued in collaboration with and through the sponsorship of local utility companies. Some of the myths associated with electricity and gas contracts are exposed. Energy audits and the tools needed to perform them are discussed. The objective, architecture, and design of Energy Monitoring Systems (EMS) are covered. The attendees will also be briefly introduced to some of the more proven renewable energy alternatives.
