Building Code Essentials: Foundations for Effective Code Application

This session explains to code users what code is, what it contains, and why it is necessary. It then discusses what users must know before they begin applying it. The session is purposefully divided into five parts, each explaining different aspects of the code, covering both Part 9 (Small Buildings) and Part 3 (Complex Buildings) of the building code.
One section briefly explains acceptable and alternative solutions and what objective-based code entails. Another part is dedicated to commonly used defined terms, enhanced with graphics for clarity.
This session will help users build a solid, lasting foundation for quickly and accurately understanding and applying the code.
