About This Course

We all know that CLE programs are boring and a chore to watch.  But we’re breaking the rules – a CLE program that’s intentionally funny and (gasp) entertaining, yet somehow still informative.  In the latest installment of this popular series, Mark Wooster discusses the data showing that lawyers are at greater risk of developing substance abuse disorder than the general public, including the reasons why this is so: high levels of pressure and stress, flexible work schedules, client development and networking activities that involve alcohol, and a reluctance to seek help, among others.  But don’t worry, far from being a dull recitation of the facts about substance abuse in the legal profession, Mark brings this content to life by inviting a very special guest: popular writer and stand-up comedian -- and recovering addict – Craig Shoemaker who shares his personal story of how he overcame addictions to alcohol, drugs and sex and set himself on a path to great success in his personal and professional lives.  Finally, Mark reviews the key questions that lawyers should ask to spot the signs of addiction in themselves and others and the many resources that are available to lawyers to get the help they need.
