Anti-Bias Education
Hi Katie.
I just finished your Anti-Bias Education course. I found myself smiling, singing along and energized to build upon our anti-bias values and curriculum here at Lavender Farm Preschool. The weekend seminar I took with you, Qahira, and Hadiyah in 2019 was one of the most powerful, challenging, humbling, and fulfilling experiences I've had in my professional (and personal) life. I reflect on various parts of that weekend often. This course helped to bring all of the prior work and learning I've done around anti-bias education to the surface. And reminded me just how much more learning and work I have to do.
In the wake of last week's white supremacist terrorist uprising, this work feels absolutely more relevant than ever (although the last five years have been a constant reminder of just how critical this work is). So, thank you for all of the work you do and thank you for opening yourself up to those of us educating and learning with our littles.
Also, you mentioned you may create a class with a focus on persona dolls. Count me in!
Take care! Jennifer McIlhenny

Able-ness and Disability Justice
This presentation was very helpful. The reflection questions were exceptionally helpful to me. Being able to reflect on such specifics helped me to move forward and make goals for applying necessary changes to our classroom environment and some of the ways we have traditionally operated.

Talking & Teaching Children About Skin Colour & Identity
This is a comprehensive course presented out of compassion for all children. Katie calls to the best in adults by appealing to their love for children, their own and those of our nation, as the impetus for self-reflection around our skin color and identity and those of others. In this way, we can answer children's questions honestly and in ways that consider and support all the diverse groups in our midst. She especially focuses on doing this with the youngest group of children who are most impressionable and most influenced by our attitudes and postures. She gives so many examples of ways to help children feel safe and affirmed in their skin color and identity and she provides activities and a plethora of resources for families and teachers to continue this most important work.
